well, this morning i started my car and i heard a slight ticking sound coming from the engine.. so i was like, damm.. my valves are offf ( i previously adjusted it like 3 weeks ago ).
my friend had this problem and when he adjusted his valves.. it fixed the problem...
well anyhow.. i readjusted them again and made sure the screws were tight.. and now, it still makes a slight ticking sound.. not as loud as before though..
They're called 'feeler gauges'. Hopefully your friends know how to use them properly. I don't know the specs, someone else will get to that. But I can say, "i tightned down the screws prettty tightly.. cuz i didn't want them to get loose again." is definitely NFG. If your friends are in a "Honda program at school", shouldn't they be learning about torque specs? God, no wonder it doesn't sound right.

NFG?? wats that??
also.. would there be any downfall for the ticking sound?? will my engine wear down faster?? will i lose any hp from this?? should i start driving my car like a lil girl now?? :
how tight did you set the lash? too tight and they are noisy and wear out the lobe and rockers faster. the tradeoff is a little higher lift and duraion since the cam lobe sits on the rocker for a longer time...you have to know what you set them at...you just don't tighten without checking the clearance unless your a newbie or like piston to valve contact.

not all clicks are bad. how tight did you set the lash? too tight and they are noisy and wear out the lobe and rockers faster. the tradeoff is a little higher lift and duraion since the cam lobe sits on the rocker for a longer time...you have to know what you set them at...you just don't tighten without checking the clearance unless your a newbie or like piston to valve contact.
i did read his post.. but i forgot to reply to it..
before and after i tighed, me and my friends rechecked the clearance. so for sure, the there is proper clearance. so, maybe i should loosen up the screws a lil? :
It's not a matter of loosening (or tightening for that matter) the screws 'a little bit'. Those bolts need to be torqued to factory Honda specifications. Do you have access to a Helms manual? I'd redo the whole job again making 100% certain that I have both: a) the correct intake AND exhaust clearance values, and b) the correct torque values. Try doing a search, I'm sure this has been covered before.

yeah, my friends have a helm manual. as for tourque values, my friends used a certain tool, its a weird one.. its 2 tools in one.. its a flat head screw driver in a hex wrench/driver sorta tool..
it doesn't have a torque setting option. so you gotta do it by hand.
i'll probably do my valve adjustment again. imma also see what else is wrong before i try to do it again.
Hey, aznmc, I appologize... that how-to site doesn't even mention the use of a torque wrench or torque values at all. But, does that mean they're doing it properly?
