The rings on my car are a little worn. It smokes at high rpms, but not not too bad. Doesn't foul plugs, and doesn't knock so I'm not too worried. I do have over 200,000 on it though. That brings me to my point. 98k sounds a little soon for them to wear out unless it hasn't been maintained or has been abused. As long as it's getting oil changes and is in good tune(plugs, etc) there isn't much you can do. You can pull it and freshen it up, or leave it till it gos. As the miles get up there, it's gonna smoke at full throttle in high rpms though.
If it runs good and doesn't knock, and you are maintaining it well you should be ok. My shop said that if I keep my foot out of it I could very well make it to 300,000. Yeah, like I'll keep my foot out of it......

first things first your head gasket could be bad with out mixing fluids. second if you want to check compression and want to know where it is leaking from do a cylinder leakage test. it is like a compression test but it forces air inthe the cylinder so you can hear where it is leeking from like if it is comming from the rings you will here the air comming from the oil filler cap if you here it it the intake it is the intake valves. if you here it in the exhaust it is the exhaust valves.and if you here it in the coolent tank it is the head gasket. but that is the best way to check. and remember it is a honda i have owned and loved many of them and most of the do some weird stuff when the miles get high. but it just makes me like it even more. good luck
you need to replace the valve seals. thats the cheapest thing. does it smoke off n on or all the time. When you start it up in the mourning does it smoke especially?
