the car im looking into buyin has solid motor mounts, so its rough on start up and when the AC is on but im not worried about the AC because i plan on removing it when i buy the car but the guy said that he had solid motor mounts put in when he swapped the engine to help with tourqe, i have never heard of that but that obviously dosnt mean its not true so have any of you guys ever heard of this? and if so is it true about affecting the tourqe
thanks again
if its a track only car (gets trailered to the track or only driven to and from track) it should be ok. if its going to be your daily driver or weekend fun car you dont want solid motor mounts.

If I two-step your A$$ then you know I'm serious!
if its only rough on start up and when the ac is on the guy that owns the car probablly doesn't know what he's talking about. they are probablly poly bushings.

i have the hasport mounts which are solid poly, on my DD car. im ok with it but i get comments on why everything rattles in the car, the coin tray, the trims, the keys, everything. they do help with torque and launching, they also save your tranny by eliminating wheel hop. the roughness is not only at starts, its through the entire rev range. although below 900 rpm and above 4000, there is a noticable reduction in the vibration, the interior is loud no matter what, just a change of sounds. i have a stock engine with stock exhaust, and the inside of my car sounds like many built cars w/ exhausts

Yeah, alot of the built honda's i've seen or worked on like my friends cars have had some pretty solid mounts, myself I found aluminum blocks that I wedged into the openings where my mounts are, there is no vibration, and there is VERY little play in the engine mounts, believe me it took alot of hammering and lube to get those blocks into the mounts, but they work good. My friend has a completely gutted CRX with a built LS/VTEC N/A. He had solid motor mounts. His car would "chug" on startup always. It would fire, crank, fire, crank, fire fire, crank, then finally kick over and run and inside the car it sounded like you were inside a blender, sometimes even rattle bolts loose. But it def. wasn't undriveable. Its all up to you. If you can put up with vibration and sound, go for it..there is nothin solid mounts can hurt really..they will usually only help. My friend had a '90 Probe GT turbo and the motor mounts were shot. He installed a 6 puck Spec stage 3 clutch and the whole dash would bang and everything would crack and shit when he powershifted. I swear to god I thought the windshield cracked sometimes..we filled his mounts with polyurethane windshield weld and it helped ALOT.
ummm solid motor mounts have nothing to do with starting the car. And are they solid as in solid metal? or solid polyurthane bushings? or solid as in he filled them himself with polyurethane. Solid motormounts also have nothing at all to do with the operation of a/c. sounds like the owner of the car needs a rope

You gotta' be joking right?...online mechanic...A/C would make a difference with the car vibrating and idling "rough" because the lower the RPM goes..like if you were to turn the A/C on, the more the engine vibrates in a car with solid mounts..and if you've heard a car start with solid mounts, then you would know that it fires up all sorts of rough...and if I head someone says "he/she needs a rope" one more fucking time I am going to shoot someone.
lol, actually, i have solid polyurethane motormounts. Explain to me what would make weird noises when you start it? the engine torquing? or more like the lack of torquing? and a/c shouldn't effect your idle that significantly anyway, and certainly not your rpms while driving. Maybe YOU have more noise from rattling of different parts because your motormounts are solid metal, but it should not make it difficult to start your car. Lol

Mods: 94 LS in a 1990 DA. Going for a clean, reliable ride. Nothing ricey.
Yeah, the only reason you would want solid over OEM mounts would be for drag or a serious track car. The stiffer mounts allow for less wheel hop, which would give you better and quicker shifts. For a street car, i would go with OEM or spend a little more and go with aftermarket that are soft enough so you dont rattle your teeth.
