Depends on your plan, what you want out of the engine and If the componant is better and or more affordable?
Getting Spoon stuff for the Bling-Bling is just that, BLING-BLING.
Do research and see what fits your plan.
The Cams, you have to decide for yourself, Possible but, there are bunch more that will be equal or better in performance for equally as much $$. The Gears, you again have decide for your self but, keep in mind that there are other Camgears out there that will do just as good of a job and cost you LESS.
And the TB, on a GSR or ITR is actually less $$$ then a new OEM/ITR TB, and is bigger. The Spoon TB may be worth it but, you need to portmatch the TB to the intake manifold, so it's NOT just a bolt on. NO portmatch=Not worth it.
Lets make sure everyone doesn't get me wrong here. I RUN Spoon products. What I use and chose is backed up by my study of the product.
I would hate to see that someone shelled out $2020. "which would be a full Spoon cam/valvetrain" upgrade, and this poor slob get annihilated by a guy who spent $145. less. with the TODA B's.
$145. aint much when dealing on such a big level But, hey IT IS EXTRA money that you could use elsewhere or save for something for the future.
YES the Toda B's will kick the Crap out of the Spoon cams.
And the Spoon engine is not even made anymore. Where did said friend procure this piece of such & such from? NOT WORTH THE MONEY!
That said.
Everyone else here Who wants to tell us about Spoon goodies, please Also share with US why their Stuff is "Worth the money?"
Please give examples of appreciation for their craftsmanship, gains, And Just for FUN howsabout someone share with us; if Any Spoon Products have any Disadvantages...
So lets begin a HUGE debate about Spoon products; I think this could be part of a Tech Archive if everyone participates correctly and follows the rules.
Mods: b20/vtec with jdm ITR conversion (mugen fascia)
i agree with 1Greyteg, Spoon is not worth the money. don't get me wrong, spoon products are good. but if u compare it to some other products that perform the same as, or even better than, the spoon products then why spend more when u can save money for something else. also, spoon motors are not that great. if u invest in crate motors such as a b20/vtec motor -- fully built. it'll give more gains compared to an overprized spoon engine.
in sum, spoon products are good. overprized -- yes. it'll be to the owner's decision to spend the money any which way he/she so desires.
The spoon TB I think is worth it, but the valvetrain, I would stick with something like Skunk2 (and stage2 cams). Spoon is damn nice but there are better things out there for your money...
Now if we are talking about WHEELS... Spoon all the way! lol, I just had to say it... The SW388s are well worth the 385 per wheel.
randyman, a crates motors b20/vtec...how much does that run? is that the one you have in your integ? how do you like it? ave you taken it to the track/dyno? etc? i've heard many good things about it, and considering transplanting it into my hatch.
peace

I think with the price you pay for the spoon name, you could be spending it on something else. Its too expensive, but if you have the money and dont mind dishing it out ... go for it.

how bout spoon suspension products? I have most of their susp. products on my car and i love it. I think the quality of their suspension components compared with mugen or wutever (strut bar, tiebar etc) is bar-none...
oh shit a pun ..
