Unhappy Starting Problem

My integra won't start. I would hear a clicking noise and thats about it. I can't figure it out. Is not the battery, or the relay, or the distrubitor. I have to keep on trying over and over until it fires. My friend told me to release the clutch halfway or something whenever you turn it on. Anybody got any 411 on this? Thanks

How is the condition of your starter cable? You can do a voltage drop test to see if there is excessive resistance in your power or ground circuits by connecting a volmeter in parallel across the starter wire and cranking the engine. There should be a reading no higher than .3 volts when the engine is cranking. The same can be done for the ground side by connecting the voltmeter from the starter case to the negative terminal of the battery. If the reading is higher than .3 volts you should clean up the connections/replace the cables. If these check out I would start looking at your fuel and spark delivery systems.

Have you messed with the distributor...it could be your timing, but if you havent done anything lately to adjust it then its prolly not.

Well sometimes it seems fine when i start it up and sometimes it doesn't. But I've been thinking mostly it happens because when its cold in the morning. The thing won't start. Sometimes it starts 100% everytime i fires it up. Other i had to push the clutch half-way then it would work. I don't think its my distributor because its new. Haven't tried banging the starter yet. Batteries are new. Spark plugs I've already check nothing wrong.

ok slap me in the face and kick me in my ass if this isn't true but my friend had the same problem on his 99 GSR and tried evrything from distributer down to starters, coils, etc. when he took it to Honda/Acura specialist they said his valves were bent. sorry if this doesn't help

It's possible that he needs a valve adjustment, however that wouldn't affect his vehicles ability to start. The valves will make a ticking noise if they are in need of adjustment. Unless it's a major valve problem, like he floated a valve, which would inevitably blow the bottom end, I doubt his strating problem is associated with his valves. And plus, he said the clicking happens before the vehicle is running, this would rule out the valves.

IT sounds definetly like a starter problem, check the ground and even the battery. Is there any corrosion on either, clean em up, and try it. If neither of those is the problem, then its time for a new starter =(((
