Stock GSR Bumper
A month ago, my car was parked and was hit by the college campus bus. MY problem is, my insurance company won't put a honda/acura bumper car cuz they say its an old car. The insurance company has decided to put an aftermarket part. Does anyone know where I can find a stock bumper for a 2000 gsr. I dont' want to put an aftermarket part, it might not fit the same. Thanks

I know an Acura dealership, the dealership out here inCt where i go to school is charging the ins. co. out the ass. Thats why I was wondering if anyone knew other places besides the dealership or ebay. Thanks
first a question: why in the hell would your insurance company have to pay to fix your car when it was hit by a college (state/city funded or private even) bus?
you could always call all the junkyards in your area..
the insurance company ought to write you a check. in louisiana at least, it is your choice where to get the car repaired (they will recommend you to a cheap place they send a lot of business to), so your best bet is to go to a pretty expensive body shop (one that you know does top notch work and charges accordingly.. ask around if you don't know one), and take their written estimate to the insurance company/adjuster). tell the body shop you want the shit done right. no aftermarket parts, no junkyard parts, little or no bondo if possible....
if i were you, i'd check your area's laws or find a lawyer that will consult you for free. i'm positive that louisiana isn't the only state where it's your choice who fixes your car, especially when it isn't your fault.

Yea your right, its the same way in Florida..And there is no way in hell that your insurance should have to pay for it unless your not telling us something, and it was your fault. But i've never heard of an insurance company denying something because the car is "too old".

What happened is the initial accident happened in another state. The other ins. co is paying for the damage but they have to prorate parts since the car is acouple years old. So there rules are trying to find new, but cheap parts. If this would of happened in NY, then I would have had new shit from the dealership already. I want original honda/acura parts on my car. for that to happen, I have to find parts my self. I hate ins co. they really don't care about fixing the car properly and put parts from anycar or company. This is the impression I am gettting from them. Ins. companies sucks. So if anyone can just help me out on this one. I would greatly apreciate it. thanks

dude it doesn't matter whether they seem to care or not. like i stated above, you have the right to have your car fixed at any shop you prefer. they can not cheap out on parts if you don't let them. if they send you a short check, do not cash or deposit it. send it back and start making threats and telling them you know the law. once they realize you're not a dumbshit, they'll match whatever estimate you hand them. there is no way that their policy is that a 4 year old car is too old to fix properly.
What kind of insurance company is this? This sounds like a small company that likes to rip their customers off. I have Allstate and they replace everything needed with brand new OEM parts.
Try checking www.acuraparts247.com. They should have way cheaper parts than your local Acura dealer and it's all OEM.
After you get everything fixed, try considering a bigger insurance company. I know they will be more expensive than the smaller companies, but they do everything by the book. They don't cut corners like those small companies.
