I'm actually still researching which integra to buy, i would love a GSR but the prices are jacked up on them. I'm prolly gonna have to go with an LS B18B and I'm planning a 300+ HP build 4 fun. I've heard suggestions of replacing the head with a VTEC head to get top end high rev power to compliment the already present low end potential from the 8B...Is this a good idea? Will compression change? Other suggestions? (I realize for a 300+HP goal I will need semi-extensive bottom-end internal work, does the top end need it too?) (Oh and I almost forgot, I'm going to boost with a turbo.) How much do I need to worry about low compression for this boost? Oh and I'm guessing an LS tranny won't handle the planned power, which tranny will? Sorry I know its a lot of questions but feel free to contribute concerning any of these aspects, I would greatly appreciate it
If you want 300bhp, just search up on beginner turbo builds and tuning. You don't have to do any internal work top or bottom on the B18B to safely boost to 300bhp.
Same is true if you want 300whp (which is the accepted max you should go on the B18B without modifying the block).
You need to find the turbo (or turbo kit if you don't want to part up your own) you want, the tuning software/hardware you want, fuel delivery mods (injectors/pump), and the turbo accessories like BOV, Wastegate, Intercooler, and gauges. Hopefully the kit will include most of these things.
To make a successful turbo build, you should bank on researching the topic for months before you even think about buying anything. Learn exactly how turbos work, why we mod Hondas the way we mod Hondas to run safely on boost etc.
This is just a realllllly quick guide to boosting B18Bs, but there is a ton of info on this site if you just search about it.
the b18b already has a low compresson (compared to the gsr and type R) and the tranny can handle it. you will prob want to get a peformance clutch and while your there you could do a flywheel too. The problem isn't getting 300 hp its getting it to the ground in your fwd Teg.
