My friend, he has a 96 Accord EX vtec. It's pretty much the best looking Accord I've ever seen in my life. Very clean, runs like new (like SERIOUSLY). I mean, this guy puts time and care into his car. And he's making it JDM (sorta besides the point, but it helps me move on to my next subject). Then I was looking at more JDM Honda cars (you know, to see how it stacked up against his) and I saw a buncha really cool Integras. Not the USDM ones with the detatched head lights, but the ones with the JDM frontend conversions and I immediately fell in love. So, I'm thinkin about getting an Integra this summer (after my 1995 Isuzu Rodeo craps out). I want to get a Type-R but those are so rare that I'm pretty much ruling that out. So, instead, I'll get like, a GSR (or even something else) and just put mods on it. But I have a few questions...
1. I want to put a JDM frontend. I've been looking around, (cheapest one I've seen was on Password:JDM, used ). Does anyone know any cheaper ones? and how much would the total estimate be to buy it, install it, and paint it?
2. I had two options in terms of the engine. I don't wanna go turbo, so supercharging piqued my interest. I was also thinking about importing a Japanese Honda Engine and swapping the engine altogether. The first seems like a cheaper option. But the import option would make me look soooo JDM. What's good/better?
3. Wheels. I wanna go with Spoons but I don't wanna break the bank. Cheaper alternatives? Same goes for the tires. I saw this Teg in the May 2006 issue of HCi and the guy had Spoons with Falkens. Cheaper alternatives?
I'm willing to put $3,500 (possibly $4,000 if need be) in mods into the car right out the gate. I want to go JDM, or as close to it as possible. What combination of mods would give me the best bang for my buck? The limit includes performance and looks. The cheaper, the better. I can hold off of the Frontend Conversion if need be.
If I could get any, if not ALL these questions answered, that'd be most appreciated.
4,000 may cover the front end conversion. Im pretty sure jdm motors are only about 10 hp more than usdm motors so i would not waste money importing one. grab a gsr and put the money in engine mods. ive heard peole say they were disapointed with superchargers and that turbos are just bad for the motor unless it is rebuilt to handle it. just dump some money into the valvetrain and put some correct air/ fuel components on i, chip the ecu and youll be on your way
Mods: b18c sirg swap, innovative mounts all around, apex ws2 catback, high flow cat
asa far as a jdm import swap, there are many companys stateside that have already shipped over the engines and have them in their warehouse, such as pasword jdm. if your looking for cheaper replica rims, a popular choice in the rota slipstreams, they are replicas of spoons. between turbo and supercharge, my opinion is turbo, since after you get a s/c, there is barely any room to upgrade, only larger pullies and such. turbos can be continously be upgraded, larger turbo, more boost, intercooler, ect. just my $.02 i dont kno about the jdm front ends, just if you do get one, try to get the metal bodies and not the fiberglass so if will fit together better.
quikflip
projekt: Tarzier
97 ek hatch
back to D-series (was: Sir-G swap, oem lsd equipped)
apex'i ws2 catback exhaust, spoon shift knob, skunk 2 short shifter, omni power street coilovers, little appearance and audio goodies
165 Whp 126 Tq is no more
rota slipstreams huh? thanks, i'll look those up...i'm currently at work going between helping customers with their deposits (i work at washington mutual), lookin at magazines for mod inspirations, and compiling a list of things i COULD possibly get. it's all very exciting. thanks again.

ok, so basically u want to go all JDM......as cheap as possible............Join the club buddy..... As far as the JDM conversion i love the way it looks dont get me wrong, but 4grand just to look like a stock Integra?????? sounds like a waste to me. I would just take the 4grand and put it in the engine, unless your going show car. Also look into some security that JDM front end will catch ALOT of eyes...

see, ya, that was another thing about the japanese front end. i dont want it to get stolen. shiz, now i'm like thinking. haha dang, maybe i shouldn't get the frontend. i mean, i live in a pretty affluent neighborhood (let's just say, upscale OC) and i dont think anyone on my block would steal parts off an integra when they're rollin in SL500's. but yeah, if i roll up on like maybe northcounty and parts of southcounty, that could get dicey. thanks for the input
You are never safe man, people will follow u home one night and wait to spot your car then take it. It happened to me woke up one morning after going to a car meet and my car was gone.........finally got it back to the same...and better if u check out my sig!
