Car: none at the moment, will rebuild one in june

Thinking about starting a project...

Hey everybody, this is my first post here. I'm going to embark on a quest here in a couple months. I will be going to Ohio to stay with my uncle and cousins and we are going to be rebuilding an Integra or a Del Sol. I'm leaning towards the Integra but a small part of me wants a del sol, I've almostm ade my decision to rebuild an Integra. By rebuilding I mean We are going to go to the junk yard and find an integra with some front end damage, or some damage and then repair it then put performance parts in it, and work with the exterior and add some sound then I will get to have it as my first car that I can call my OWN. I've driven for 2 years now but this will be the first one I acturally own without having to share with parents.
First off, I don't konw much about Integra's, I don't see many around here where I live. I've been reading the sticky's so I've gained some knowledge. How do they handle and perform? What are the pros and cons that they have? What years are better than the others and why? How reliable are they? as reliable as Honda's?
Second, we are hoping to find a damaged car for around $2000-$3000 or maybe lower. Is that a reasonable goal there? What am I looking at to pay for a damaged Integra '90+. My goal is to have $6000 by the time I go over there in June. The car will be a daily driver and will get a lot of use because I'll use it to go to school and back, baseball games, weight lifting, friends, etc. I want this car to be fast, very fast, but I don't want to have to have NOS or a Turbo or anything in it because I'm not going to be racing on tracks or anything, I want it to be fast enough to beat most cars, well basically I want to be able to crush my friends if we were on some country road racing lol.
The most important thing I'm looking for when building the car will be performance then looks. Last but not least will be a sound system. I've done some research as to what performance parts to put on and want to know your opinions on them. I just found the highest rated on carreview.com. What are your opinions on the following:
Coilovers - (Eibach) Ground Controls

Shocks - Tokico Illumina Shocks

Springs - H & R Sport Springs

Struts - Neuspeed Strut Tower Bar

Exhaust - Borla Cat-Back System
Tanabe Racing Medalion

Headers - DC Sports Ceramic Coated Headers

What would you change or take out. Do i need all those when I rebuild it or do I need MORE than that, for performance.

I haven't looked at any body kits yet. How much will I look at spending to get a good looking one? Do I even need one?? I haven't looked at any tires yet. For sound I've heard the Eclipse cd8053 and Alpine CD7998 are really good, maybe too pricey though... we'll have to see when it comes down to the end and see how much $$$ I have left. I also heard the JL Audio subs are really good and Infinity components are excellant sounding speakers. Not sure at all what amp I should get... Any opinions yet? any changes? advice?

One last thing you should know, I live in South Dakota, winters can be bad, though the past 2 years haven't had much snow. Will the car be alright in the snow or should I grab some winter tires and put those on when winter comes along? In 2 years I should be hopefully down in georgia or someplace down in the southeast for college so I just have to get through the first 2 years.

Can you guys give me any advice about the products I have looked at or can you recommend any more? Remember I have a $6000 or so budget and I don't even know if what I've selected will fit into the budget, anyone knows?

Thanks a lot,
Steve

Wow, looks like a long list you got there. First off you should see if you can get your car straight first, audio will come second. We have a great audio forum also you could check out, or you can PM me if you want to figure out what audio equipment to install. (I’m partial to JL Audio subs and Alpine decks myself
Well, welcome to the world of Integras buddy :
So you have 6000 dollars to spend total? I would wait on the stereo stuff and get a nice DC2 (94+) shell rather than the older G2 style shells. Then, since you stated that you don’t want to go forced induction and want to go N/A I suggest probably a B18C1 engine.
For the upgrades you listed there…seems like a good idea for a start. A good idea is to slap the mods on your engine before actually bolting the engine in, while you have the engine out, I suggest you replace the clutch, flywheel and things like that. It makes it all eaiser in the long run!!!
Remember there’s a lot of hidden costs with rebuilding a car, if you’re just building it up from a shell, you’ll need a lot more money and time before it’ll ever set foot on the streets
PM me anytime, and I’ll try to help you thru it all…
