Well my 98 gsr is finally starting to wear down...it's getting old. Still works great but the minor things are falling apart, like my antenna won't go down anymore (you can still hear the motor working but it doesnt wind down anymore so I will do the S2000 antenna conversion since it's cute and everyone raves over it), my cigarette lighter won't work anymore, and the worst of all is my TRUNK.
Since I have a coupe, the trunk opens with shocks and they aren't totally completely out because you can still open the trunk with some help from the shocks and hear the air..but it doesn't stay up! It fell and hit my head twice so far...(ouch) and if you guys know, that is one heavy mofo. But now it's just getting harder and harder to open...feel like I'm liftin weights.
Oh one more problem too, I have to always open my trunk by turning the key in the keyhole as I push the lever to the left to open the trunk. I think the real way to open it is to just use the lever, as long as the car is unlocked. I don't understand how it got that way.
So does anyone have any advice on fixing the shocks on my trunk and on fixing the process of opening my trunk to how it should really be? Any help is appreciated...
Oh one more thing, I am also planning on selling my car, that's why I'm trying to fix all of these things... was wondering if anyone could also give advice on how much I should sell it. >> It is a 1998 black 2-dr GSR with 71,000 miles, jdm type r front end conversion with HID's and full body kit and type r wing, special edition gray leather interior with gray on black door panels, indiglo gauge cluster, Aiwa CD deck/tuner, cdchanger potential, red engine cover, AEM CAI, trust exhaust and has been driven by a semi-conservative girl like me, meaning i don't drive it hard all the time, only when I get hit up=).
Thanks in advance for all the input.

You just need to buy new shocks for your trunk, just go to your local car store and they should be able to help you out. Then they just thread on, its cake.
Yup, go to local auto store and ask them if they have any struts that will fit your trunk. As far as the price, what kind of condition is the car in? Rust? All the basic info needed to make an estimate.

to be honest, the condition is not excellent, but good and that is only because of normal wear and tear. For a 98, its in great shape. No rust. It is in great condition in and out. It just needs to be vacuumed from all the rocks on my shoes and a car wash.

wow, all that trouble on a 98? jeez...
my friend's 94 is in top shape and he beats on it...everything works too!
the only thing i found to be a hassle on the trunk side is that the lever to open it gets stuck sometimes and when i slam the trunk down it doesn't latch and close...
other than that it's aiight...
as far as the shocks going out on your hatch..that's weird..my 1990 hatch is still good after all these years...

Integra for the most part are dependable, but you know how it goes with cars. Sometimes the little things just start to crap out on you. Don't let a couple stories scare you. All cars if not treated properly will just fall apart. At 60K is when most people like to do tune ups on their car like changing belts flushes etc.
But even early 90s Gen II tegs are great cars. They still run strong and still look great. Just look at claytons still running strong among other Gen II drivers here. Hell I've had 3 different tegs now. all great dependable cars.

just get new struts...
got pics of your car? we should trade front ends
well, yea its been about 5.5 years old, minor things are bound to happen. but besides those few things, i'm sure glad my car is still in good shape. that same thing also happens to me with my trunk as well...
however if i remember correctly, i think the 98+ integras hatchs are a lil different because they don't have the lever to open the trunk next to the driver seat right? you either have to unlock it with the key or just pull the lever below the latch if your key is in the ignition.
i remember my ex from way back in day high school had a '92 gs hatch and he had the same problem with his hatch except it was worse than mine because there wasn't even air support to lift the hatch, and that was one heavy ass mofo! man those days that i had to hold the friggin trunk for him...hahahaha. so when this happened to me, i wasn't too surprised. and when my antenna stopped working, i wasn't too surpised either, cause everone says integra antenna's will one day just stop workin on u.
hehehe yea i love my front end to death and my HID's even more. but i'm at work, maybe i'll dig up some pics and post em later.

yes, yes, i couldn't agree with you more on that. and that's not just to float my own boat. i always thought it was what integra owners said because they couldn't afford a more luxurious car, but i was a dork and am now an experienced integra owner and have observed other tegs as well.
i have to say that i totally hate my car now because it is so good to me. i have no good reason to sell it except that i've outgrown it and i feel so guilty selling it because it has been for me through it all.
my entire family talked crap on me years ago when i first got my car cause they thought i shoulda just bought a 5K or less used car (cause we ain't rich) and said all this crap that it was gonna break down on me and i'll lose all this money blah blah blah...but its been years and everyone in my family has had more than their fair share of car problems...except for MOI! my dad is constantly fixing all of my three sister's cars (which 2 of them are newer than mine) and his car as well... he's the type of dad that likes keeps maintenance on all of his daughters cars...but all he's ever done with mine is change the oil. it's funny that they still talk s*** on it but i am still a proud owner because i can honestly say that i have never had any problems with my car.
and that leads back to what i was saying before, i hate my car because it gives me no good reason to sell it. if i could afford to buy another car without selling this one, i would do it, but frankly i ain't got the cash flow for that. so until the new 3-series BMW comes, my teg will be takin care of me as i take care of him.
oh yea and my bf's brother had a white 91 ls with over 200k but sold it like 2 years ago and it was still running great. my older sister still has a black 91 gs and it still runs decent, although that one had a few setbacks with oil leaks (she bought that one from a shady used car dealer). my ex from high school had a 92 gs...and if i remember then...i think it was like around 160 or 170k and never had any major problems, just minor maintenance issues like mine.
