So I have question about best tranny combo? My buddy has two gsr trannys torn apart. And one grinded in 2nd gear and one the idiot had a friend try to put in a lsd and took the whole thing apart.Well I was wondering if there is a ultimate tranny combo that I can use the cases and gears from other trannys to build an best all around combo for all motor. And if you know anyone that does this kinda stuff. Thanks for any info I can get.
Just curious.. are the gear ratios different when comparing USDM Type R tranny to a JDM Type R tranny? Or does everyone list getting the JDM Type R Tranny because it's t3h ubb3rest JDM cr4z3!!!1uno
Wow so far this thread is completely worthless from post #1 on.
Engine?
Redline?
Powerband?
Power #s?
Tire size?
Street?
Highway?
Autocross? What class?
Road racing/trackdays? What class?
Dragstrip?
Can we stop spewing out bullshit and start having a real discussion that's worth a damn? YES X TRANNY WITH X PARTS IN IT WILL BE IDEAL FOR YOU... EVEN THOUGH WE DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR SETUP IS OR WHAT YOU'RE USING IT FOR...

I plan making it for street strip and right now redline is set at 8700 on a chipped P28. And my tire size is 215/50/15 on Rota subzero rims.It is in a 1995 Integra GSR. I plan on running spray this summer if that changes anything.
it does. With Forced induction most people want longer gearing than the NA setup yyou discribed so that the tires dont just spin in the lower gears and so your in the power band a little longer. Wasn't there a tread on here with someone with a jdm tranny that had to shift into 5th in the 1/4?

JDM type R tranny
quaife lsd
GSR 5th gear,
and 4.4 final drive
thats from the ls/vtec post, and i hear its a beast for the street
what page did you see that on or are you just fuckin with him? because what you described is buy a jdm motor put in a usdm final drive, a 5th gear that is the same exat ratio as the one you are taking out and taking out the oem lsd and installing an aftermarket. You could achieve the same exact thing by getting a gsr tranny and installing the quaife. the only diff will be 2nd and 3rd gear.
that one makes sense. that FD is huge so when driving on the highway you will be reving really high, so you switch out the 5th gear to make the highway rev's lower. Thats a typeR tranny not a JDM R
