Valve covers?

So I hopped ina buddys integra today, and he claims hes got a Vtec head on his car. Its unmodded and under the hood he does have the DOHC Vtec Valve cover, but driving it, it really doesn't kick into valve timing at high end like my integra. Theres really no noticeable change. its a 92 just like mine, but its an LS bottom end I know B18A1. Is there any way you can put a DOHC Vtec valve cover on a non Vtec head? like the B18C valve cover on a B18A1 motor? I wanna catch him in his lie, but don't know another way.

i didnt think that was possible with and oem valve cover...maybe its an aftermarket....you could also check for the vtec solenoid....or have him show you where it is...then when he points to his FPR, you can smack him!...haha

It could be aftermarket . No vtec selenoid..No vtec . I think tenzor makes a cover that says vtec for non vtec cars .

keke, thanks, I do know what a DOHC Vtec and a Non vtec valve cover are =P my dads got a non Vtec motor and I wish I had the black head off his, I hate the red DOHC Vtec cap the guy put on mine, its just too shiny and when stuff is shiny, you know it doesn't dissipate heat nearly as well =P

no ls and vtec valve covers are not interchangable. yes if ur friend has a dohcvtec cover then yes he has a dohc vtec head.reason you dont hear vtec maybe is because he doesnt have a vtec ecu yet. or maybe he doesnt knoe you need a vtec ecu to have vtec engage,

If you drove it, what was his redline or limiter if he has stock guages (non gsr). If you haven't driven it yet, look for his redline or limiter. In most cases, that should give it away.

i think this posts is pointless. if he has a dohcvtec valve cover then its most likely he does. i guess 95gsrtegra just doesnt want to believe his friend has a lsvtec setup

Actually your wrong, just drove it again, and checked under the hood, no vtec solenoid, and I talked to his brother and he says he ordered just the valve cover a few days ago. Even his brother is making fun of him for finding a Vtec cover that would fit an LS. I just knew his motor didn't pull like it should =P

in the beginning you said he has a ohc valve cover on it and now you said he doesnt have it shipped yet? im confused here but no a dohc vtec valve cover doesnt fit. maybe those gay companies make a fake vtec cover for the LS...

He does have it on, as I said earlier, follow me ~. It seems like a aftermarket company is making one for LS tegras, I looked at tenzor's website and I can't seem to find one for an LS head. I checked the bolt pattern too like someone said earlier, and it doesn't match my Vtec motor so Im wondering who makes it.
