VTEC PISTONS IN A NON-VTEC ENGINE

will the Non-VTEC engine run good if it has the GSR pictons.....is it worth the swap?....(B18C1 pistons, in B18A engine)

and how much more power are we looking to gain?...

we got a Non VTEC engine and we have the pistons already...so we are wondering if it is worth the piston swaps.

thx u

i dont think gsr pistons are much more compression than the ls ones,
but we had a set of type r pistons that we sent out to have a custom set made from them and went up to 11.1:1 in an ls. they worked fine . the bore is the same , but i think you might need diff lenghth rods. im not sure if the stroke change at all

They will work, but I believe the rods have to be slightly modified. For the piston to connect properly. I am sure there was a similar post on this already.

Here are a couple that may help you:
GSR pistons & LS block & GSR head,????...Tuan

I asked the same question a while back about type r pistons in a LS. Here is the thread:
Type R pistons in a LS?

I have an LS Integra, would putting these pistons in make a difference, is it a worthwhile install. What kind of gains are there from using these pistons over the stock LS

this is completely wrong.

you can use b18C1 , b16B, and B18C5 pistons on an LS rod as long as you mill the small end of the rod by 0.7mm on each side and then shot peen the rod to regain the surface tension strength. The small end of the LS rod is too fat for the GSR and "R" pistons but you CAN make these pistons fit.

you can use JDM b16A (PR30) and USDM b16A (PR3) pistons directly on LS rods without having to mill the small end of the rod.

tuan i remember you posting a web site a while back...i acutally think it was at HV, and you could mix blocks, heads, and pistions and it would yeild a compretion rationg for the B series motors (all honda parts, no aftermarket), but now the site has been down for some time. you don't happen to have any similar sites do you?

http://www.bojangz.com/calculator/ thats the link, but it no longer works

wu racer, you are funny...anyways

ls / vtec here with 94 ls block with gsr head and manifold

civic type r pistons in my ls block, only thing had to be modified was the rods (stock ls rods)

even tho before i had no vtec (engine light came on - safe mode) i still beat alot dohc vtec cars with just ls / civic type r pistons

now its runnin good, i have the torque of an ls with the high end of vtec plus high compression of civic type r pistons

point is, they will work...i really dont know what wu racer is talkin about :
