What to do with my money...

Within the next couple months i should be getting around 875 dollers, im looking for just performance, i want your opinion. Right now the engine is stock.

Im thinking definantly VTEC head (to go along with that sticker i have) which i can get for around 400(cheaper but its better to over estimate and come with extra) im thinking and i know someone that will put it on for cheap.
soo i have 400 left, lets see...
DC Header i can get for 230, Cheaper if i get one used.
that leaves 170 and im thinking AEM CAI or i can get a hi-flow cat im thinking for about 80 bucks. that leaves 90 installing and stuff. (i think i like that idea better)

Any suggestions. Xmas is comming up and im getting wheels and i should have around 300 dollers(or more) which i can buy more stuff for the motor.

Considering i may not be able to drive for the next couple months (maybe until xmas) cuz my mom froze my insurance. So i should come back with a semi decked out car, it will be a big diff from when i last drove it.

im thinking with that extra 300 dollers i could help "bullet proof" my block since if i get an ls/vtec i dont want to over rev my block and screw it up or something, since that would mean the end of driving for me (im never going to have enough for a new block)

I think you need to re-evaluate the costs. Do you think the head is going to mate right up with the block? Not doing a LS/VTEC project. The head alone is going to run 500 and up. You seriously need to call around and find out how much this is really going to run you.

Yeah, i would have to get a conversion kit im sure. But i see heads going for like 300. but i need to invest some into a conversion kit (i dont think that costs much) and i should be able to get it installed really cheap. If not, i can put the other stuff on hold and use my full funds on it. (i dont think i will need more then 400/450 for it, but im not sure.)

Are the items in order that i listed a pretty good start? If im alittle short i can always get it a couple weeks later so i pretty much just need input on what im thinking about getting.

Also if i can get it installed, how much could u think i could get a head and conversion kit for? just curious on your thoughts. Ive searched arleady.

Read up a lot more and then decide. Building up your block with $300 is just plain laughable. And LS/VTEC for $400-500?? First it's not going to be reliable, and second you can't just slap on a head and a 'conversion kit' and call it good. You'll need a diff. ECU for one thing to make it run worth a damn, and a lot more to do the whole thing right.

THINK first, THEN unload almost a grand.

i say to read more before u start to ask some questions.. u'll have a better understanding this way. i was in ur shoe when i was set on all-motor plan, but i switch to turbo plan cuz of money issue and time consuming. I still dunno alot about the internal motor, so i'm slowly learn as time goes by. good luck to u!

one more thing, if u're really that picky on money.. goes for performance first than the looks.. i kinda regret that part cuz at first when i got that GSR, i spent quite amount of money for looks.. til later on.. i realized alot of potential on GSR motor as well as LS motor.. i wanted to make more power, so i did alot of readin and see wat plan i can set up for my car.

Edit: i reread ur list of mod u wanted.. if u plan to go turbo, dont get header and small exhaust which seem to be a waste of money.. u'll need a bigger exhaust and a turbo manifold for that.. dont waste ur money. Just know wat u want to do first cuz it is always better to do the permanent things first. Dyno ur car on turbo cost alot of money, so it'll be a waste if u had already spent ur money on header and small exhaust for ur I/H/E set-up.

your friends an idiot by the way...thats not true.... if you have a stock cooling system with a 700hp civic as long if there are no imperfections in the cooling system the car will never overheat. simple as that... ive seen it.....

^^^ He's right. Integra cooling systems are very very good, what your friend said is completely out of his ass. Anyway, turbo motors create a lot more heat than N/A!!

Ok well im still really set on a vtec head, becusae im thinking your potential is much greater, the money will come slow. but im looking in the long run. How much do you think the head will cost me total. the price of the head+ecu+conversion kit+install (even though i think i can get it installed for almost nothing.)
Quality is fairly important, dont want to many shortcuts so i want a decent ecu etc.

Try to be specific with prices.

Also keep bringing the other ideas on what i shall do with my car.
92 GS Integ btw

Prices, I've done it so I know what you'll need. Ok, $875 is not going to cuy it. Complete head will run youy like, $500 (assuming you get the B16 with the vale cover, IM, distributor, VTEC components, throttle body). Golden Eagle complete conversion kit, $250. GREAT KIT! Made everything so easy. Are you gonna leave the bottom end stock? Eww... ECU? $200-300. GS-R oil/water pump? $200 right there. T-belt, $55, OIL PRESSURE GAUGE (get it!) $40. That's...um....carry the 3......like $1200+ on the weak stock bottom end. That's NO head work, NO bottom end rebuild. Look to spend 2500+. I didn't spend that much cause I work at honda, and I know people who now people j/p. But It costed me like 1800 over an 11 month period. Not a cheap venture, but I am VERY VERY pleased with the results. Invest that money in suspension and dope tires. You need a car to handle the quick before you dump it in. Rep my knowledge...

ok, thanks. All that extra stuff you bought i would buy eventually but not all at first. ive heard its better with al that stuff but i could drive it without, most of the stuff you need is already on the stock block or i already have.

I think i WILL wait to get some more cash before i do it.

Spend your first $5 on the latest issue of Sport Compact Car.
They do a full walkthrough on an LS/Vtec head swap in there this month - it's incredibly detailed. If you read that and still want to frankenstein your b18b then nothing any of us can say will stop you.

Nitrous is the most bang for your buck in that price range....I hate to say it but it is.
Or if you can make due with another ride for a little while you could sell your b18b for $1500 and with that and the $875 go buy yourself a JDM GSR motor.
that's a little risky cause you'd be cashless and have a naked engine bay that still needs an istall; but if you're doing it yourself it's a viable option.
