Alright, I am able to get a hold of a '92 4dr auto teg ls for really cheap. Are these generation of Integra's worth putting money into? Some plans I had were to swap out the auto for manual (since its a cable tranny it should be easy) How much do you think a shop would charge for an auto to manual swap? Anyway, the body looks like it was in good condition for its age, I was just wondering if its worth to put money into an integra like this. The extend to what I would do, would be make it ls/vtec (b16 head), auto to manual swap (b16 tranny) i/h/e, and maybe a really light flywheel and a stage 2 cam for more revving fun. Of course, I would cover suspension too. At least the integra's got 4 wheel discs.
PS. I currently drive a 2000 Honda Civic CX hatch auto. I paid too much for it and I regret it but I've done a little bit of mods on that car. I told myself I wouldnt dump any more money into an auto though, but it's too tempting. Maybe I should just stick with the slow civic and save up for something really fast like a 300zx? Ah, automatic D series is just too frustrating
edit* sorry, another question. Are there any common problems with the DA integras? I know that with D series motors, the rods snap easily. Just wondering if there is something I should look out for that is a common problem? Thanks for any input
if its worth it or not is up to you. personally if i was going to do all that (motor, tranny, suspension) on a car that old, I would start of with a CRX. they are lighter and look better IMO. But there are a lot of people that like the way the gen 2's look and perform. If you mean is it worth it like will you be able to make money off the car then no its not worth it.
Nah, I just meant if I was going to be putting in all of this money performance wise, into a chassis this old, are these cars notorious for any electrical problems or if I was going to make an ls/vtec build, are the DAs too heavy or do they not handle the best..? Frankly I think my civic is fun, however the Integra is a bit bigger. It's hard to find a clean CRX shell in my area. All of them have been swapped or are rust buckets now.
Integras are great... very reliable, good chassis, good motor, etc. It sounds like you have a good plan and I would highly recommend a DA on a limited budget - it's pretty much the same car as a '94-01. However, I would stay away from the auto to manual swap and just find a good manual DA, even though that's hard to do. The auto to manual swap is a pretty big pain in the ass when half of the Integras out there are already manuals. Just my $.02.

I say this because I was tempted by other lesser cars and I am glad I stuck it out until I found exactly what I wanted. As stated, the auto/manual thing, not really worth it if you ask me, especially with so many 5spd DA's still running around.
Just keep your eyes open and you'll find something. And maybe Hondas are not your game either, idk, whatever your into tho, with cars in my opinion, you should not compromise and always get the best or exactly what you want. Cheap shit or substitutes you will regret: always.
Oh, and if you find a GSR or ITR you never have to worry about finding one thats an auto, haha. (I don't think anyway.)
