What to do now?

Ok i have a 98 ls with 82k miles. So far i have AEM cold air Intake, DC sports header, Top Speed CatBack (not sure on the size only thing that was on the car when i bought it) and a Skunk 2 short throw. The only thing im going to be doing with the car is driveing the 3 miles back and forth to work everyday and the rare 1/8th mile run. I just want to go faster so i was thinkin i asked around at some shops but i think they just wanna sell me shit. I think cams, cam gears, Clutch ,flywheel, and maybe a gsr head but i have to drive it everyday so i dont have the time to do that so i really cant do any interenals i have about 4k to spend any help ?

my first step in your situation would be a hi-flow cat like a carsound. next i'd probably go with some cams, gears, springs & retainers, or some suspension mods. seems like you're on the right track, just need to get that stock cat gone if it's still down there.

I lowered it some already, Cams and stuff is i guess the way i 'll go, what kind do you think? Will they make a good amount o f difference? Cause im kinda pissed last night i saw like a 95 or so 240sx drivin next to me and it was for sale and my girl needs a car so i was gonna see how much it was. Well i guess he thought i wanted to race...... so he dropped gears and slammed it, i followed suit. i had him by like a car length .i was about to have to shift outta fourth . i did and he like started pullin hard i was like damn i cant have my girl driveing a car with a higher top speed then me lol so i need 2 go faster.

infamous187 is an unknown quantity at this point
if you want, change your tranny to a b16. it has shorter gear ratios, which make you shift faster and it should let you see a difference.

IMO, get b16 tranny, clutch/flywheel, cams/gears/ and slicks. you will notice a nice difference.

ps. if you dont use your trunk, gut it out... (might not do much, but a little weight loss is better the weight gained)

dont you have any goals???....
it seems to me that your doing lego building
dont just buy parts cause you got the $$
figure out what goals you want to achieve first
you wanna go FI or NA?
You have to pick a powerband and choose mods that add to it. And REAL power is torque, not horsepower.

With 4k to spend I would go with a header, b16 tranny swap OR a type r final drive on your existing tranny, clutch upgrade, cams and/or cam gears, and a hondata ecu. www.hondata.com if u aren't familiar with them. These upgrades except for the header allow you to get some noticable gains plus leave you with the freedom to decide later on whether or not to go na or forced induction.

The USDM Type R FD is a 4.40 just like the GS-R, which is only a 3% change from LS. It would help but not much, you'd still have a long 3-5th. B16 tranny would be nice (same gearing and FD as the USDM ITR), throwing an LSD on at the same time would be a good idea as well.

"REAL power is torque, not horsepower." Ok that's ridiculous. HP is a function of torque... how can that not be "real power"? An LS has only 3lb/ft less torque than a Type R.... yet an LS runs a 15.9 or so in the 1/4 mile and the Type R is a full second or more quicker. I think this has more to do with the extra 55hp than 3lb/ft, weight, gearing, tires, LSD, or whatever bullshit you could argue.

i know its ridiculous
wanted to see if anybody would say somin about it.. cause i dont think that people who promote lego building would know anything about that.. i know that hp is directly related to torque with the respect to time and 1hp = 550 lb-ft per second.. blah blah blah

i just dont like when people suggest mods to people because it just promotes lego building
Let people decide for themselves what they want and just suggest goals to them... not mods
if you really want to learn something
goto T-I.net and read the articles

so im guessing hes working on his midrange powerband since he has cold air and probably a 4-2-1 header... so ummm dunno what to add cause im not working on that specific powerband

Hehe definitely true. As Tuan would have said in his days here, it's about the "package" and not just an engine with a bunch of parts thrown at it. Everything should be matched to each other.

way to cover up when you got called out.

what exactly is lego building?

he asked fopr suggestions on mods, not for suggestions on a final goal for his car.

besides..
