What do you guys think best cams are for N/A
Hey everyone, wanna see what you guys think the best cams are for all motor GS-R, deciding all my parts valvetrain be decided now bottom ended is already decided, , not telling til it's done and I can post pics and video. But i will left it at this, looking at higher then 12.5:1. I already have some spoon valves, still need to decide on springs and retainers and cams. So leave some feedback best stage 2 or stage 3 cams you guys can think of:

i'm thinking about selling my all motor head package set up.
i have JUN Stage III cams and JUN valve train. =P
personally, a lot of people run the cams.
i can't think of anything else that has close to stock idle

you would be wasting money on spoon valvetrain. Ferra makes excellent valves and valve guides. Omni, Jun, Toda, Skunk 2 make nice springs and retainer sets.
at a higher comp ratio of 12.5 you need some real agressive cams to match so take ur pic with Jun's, Toda's, Rocket Motorsports and such...Buddy Clubs are nice if u can find a set that came from a good batch ...older versions were prone to breaking

JUN 3 or 4 are my recommendations. Toda makes good stuff, but for Honda I prefer JUN.

i had JUN 3s for my daily driven teg and it ran fine....even when i was untuned i didnt have any idle problems. they are beautiful cams and i would definatley recommend them. depending on how much u want to spend on cams u might even want to look into the toda vtec killer cams that make insane power but are meant for seriously built NA motors that rev over 9k. with ur c/r ud make great power with stage 3 cams or higher. it all depends on how big u want to go, how much u want to spend, and wut goals u have in mind for ur c1

What is your power goal and what is the car gonna be used for. 12.5 compression is pretty high, I know you can get away with 12.0:1 on pump gas but I don't know if your gonna get detonation free without using some sort of race blended mix. The new Skunk2 Pro series cams are good, but they are reccomended for 2.0 liter motors. If you haven't built the bottom end yet, you could get some 84mm pistons for it and have it bored to that and you will be close to 2.0. I had to swap some cams for some other stuff because my setup wasn't up to snuff with what the cams needed. Buddy Club cams are good, but must be degreed in the motor, that's the trick behind them. Jun cams are nice but awfully expensive as is Toda.

You can run 12:1 on premium if you have a decent knock sensor.

you dont even need a knock sensor. 12:1 is very easily done on pump gas with the right tune.

True, but I would run a knock sensor in case premium isnt available at some point in my travels.

ive seen all motor c5 w/CTR pistons, i believed it yielded a 13:1 or c/r , run off 91 octane with AEM EMS. it ran like a beast

reason i say you dont need one is based on the fact that more than likely he would be running forged pistons. Forged pistons have more internal stress and will trigger the knock sensor much easier than cast.

Its possible, but I've never had issues with knock sensors and forged pistons. I find that a knock sensor makes for cheap insurance that you dont blow up your motor if you can only get regular for a fillup. (this has happened to me)
Either way 12 or 12.5:1 isnt unheard of compression, considering that some motors are above that even rolling out of the factory.
