what everyone thinks????
Im sitting here wondering wut you all think about jdm and usdm, wut one is better and why? I like jdm over usdm, due to jdm gives out more horse power for example, jdm b16a 170hp, usdm b16a 160 hp, that extra hp comes from the botton end if remember correctly, let me know wut u think

I think that if your going to build the bottom end up, it doesn't matter if you start with the JDM or USDM engine. The end result will be about the same, except for you spent more money on the JDM engine.

I'm thinking Brand Spanking Newbie says it all. JDM engines always have more HP, usally about 10, due to less restrictive emissions and higher compression. The JDM engine is better. You can usally pick one up with about 40K but they are more expensive and harder to find than a usdm.

It all depends, yes it has a higher compression then the USDM, but it's not necessarily a good thing if your planning on FI in the latter run. Some people get the JDM just b/c it's JDM. I got my engine JDM b/c of the higher compression (going n/a) and b/c of the little higher hp, and torque

high compression can be good with a turbo as long as it has a good tune.

true to a degree. JDM s15 SIVLIA makes 250hp with 10:1 CR and it's Turbo baby. if your goal is only 300whp than 10:1 is fine with a good tune. you'll retain low-end response before boost threshold. but you have a higher chance of detonation and lest margin of error for tuning.

yea i got mine with 28k. i only got it becuz of the compression and the 10 + hp it has on the usdm motors. but with the restricted emissons idk if you would beable to put them into a new car because of all the emisson testing they have now, but im still not sure.
