if i chipped my ecu and it raised my rev limiter would i safely hold 8 grand? or should i wait till i build up my internals. just wondering what u ls guys run your rpms up to.
You would not safely run 8k rpm. The gsr and itr had a shorter stroke than the ls block so they can rev higher. If you had a ls head, that would be your main problem in running higher revs.
Mods: Flowmaster exhaust, AEM cold air intake, flashed ECU for 8200 RPM shifts
The head is the real limiter, I believe the stock bottom end if not on boost can hold revs to 8000 pretty reliably. Ive known non built LS/Vtecs that have revved to 8000 with the stock bottom end except piston rings, and after market rods, lifters, springs.

wtf.....honda engines dont have lifters and springs are in the head...

hondas are overhead cam they dont have lifters or pushrods.

Do you have different cams in the head? if not then there is no reason to raise the rev limit...your cams make power just below where your rev limiter, trust me honda knows what they are doing when they put the rev limit where they did.

Heh I have stock bottom end B18A1 with an ITR head and I'm only revving to 7000rpm cause of it, I'd really like to rev to the 9000rpm but I gotta build my bottom end but do you think that my stock block and LS rods could take going to 8000-8500rpm a few times at the strip?

You wont make power at 9000rpm. Everyone just thinks if you rev higher it equals more power. Not true. You have to have the Cams, good flowing head, intake manifold etc. You can just throw a ITR on something and make 200 and whatever hp at 9000rpms.

That's not a good idea. The ls block has longer strokes while the b18c blocks had shorter strokes. You might damage your block a lot.
Eh import-review.com 's LS/VTEC on stock sleeves and LS rods reved to 8600rpm with ITR pistons i believe its on their site under performance it says LS/VTEC Motor built the right way. just looking for opinions...I just would do it like 2-3 times.
