2 computers 1 set of input devices? Switch?

Okay. I have another technical question. Looking at the setup I am going to be doing. I need to use 1 monitor, 1 keyboard, 1 mouse to work two computers. The question is simple.... the answer is even easier "get a switch" gotcha, but... here is the problem

The monitor is no problem

The mouse and keyboard for the computer I have now is PS2 so obviously the switch would have to handle PS2 inputs, but the other computer is the old standard of connections, non PS2 connections.

What do I need in order to get this to work? Do they make adapter cables or am i going to have to get cables and seperate adapters for each? Do they make Y cables for both mouse and keyboard inputs?

get a KVM switch, either at a local computer store or on pricewatch or newegg.com. it stands for keyboard video and monitor switch, you plug your one set of keyboard/mouse/monitor then you plug the output from the kvm to both machines, then you can just turn the switch to switch over to the other one or vice versa.

kewl, thanks! i'll have to check it out. So basically, it does a computer at a time, not each individual device?

i dont want to have to flip 3 switches just to use the other cpu... that would suck

nope, it's just one knob you turn to either A or B

Here's a whole slew of them good lucking picking one out

But I'm not sure if you need one with usb or network port too, but they do sell those also.

strictly KVM the cpus are routed and it's just to do input devices necessary to operate cpu.
