Well, I am about to run KillDisk - so wish me luck. Hopefully all will go well, if not, oh well. No SHO for me.

Kill disk is a great utility, especially if you want to start your harddrive from scratch. It writes over every block with a 0, then a 1. Then there's nothing left.

so youre just cleaning your entire hard drive? is there a main reason to do this?

The beginning of last semester I got 2 of the big worm viruses. That were going around, and my HD was full of crap, so this was an easy way to do it. Unfortunately, for some reason, now I'm blocked from SHO unless I go through AOL, but I'm not banned. Weird shit.

How long will it be before your back on sho again??

And how long does it take to run the full killdisk program?

It took a good 1 1/2 hours for killdisk to do its thing (80GB HDD). It was another hour for all windows to do its thing, and then more time for loading all the drivers, utilities, and programs. It took a good chunk of the afternoon.

I am on SHO, sort of. Hopefully my IP shit gets fixed soon, I hate using AOL.

Did you notice a differance in the speed of you cpu at all?

Actually yes. I think that this is partly due to the fact that when i loaded my files, everything went on contiguously, so there is virtually no fragmented files. So basically my computer can run as fast as its supposed to.
