Celeron is made by Intel but you're right, celeron is shit. slooow...
find the exact model number of your motherboard, and then look up on the manufacturer's website to see what chips it can handle. But I think it would be benefitial for you to get new chip AND new motherboard.

have you tried overclocking that baby? celerons are great overclockers. I've seen some 500mhz celerons do 1 ghz, with the right cooling setup of course. but then they are still slow since they suck and are made by intel.

anyways, you could probably fit a PIII chip in there, but its not worth it. get a new mobo and get an athlon.

haha i overcloced it to 541 and it worked fine but it ate out my power supply. i can go stable at 441 for a few weeks but then i get errors so i go back...in my manual it says that it supports up to a pentium 2 233 chip..but iono. heheh i wnat to get another board and chip at least a 900 intel on it...hehe im cheap u kno. i dont want an AMD cause i guess the fsb. the new p4 comes with i think 500fsb..correct me if im wrong...my uncle got a 900 celeron and that sheit is slow as phuck. he got the same HD as me (maxtor 7200 ata 100 20 gig) and u can hear the hard drive...on my comp u cant and really his hahaha feels slower than mine. so many errors that im working through also. ne one in sacramento who can hook it up with spare parts?? =)
