This problem comes and goes randomly. Most recently, viewing videos on break.com. All of a sudden during the buffer, the video starts to play at like quadruple speed with no picture and no sound.
After that, I have no sound on my PC until I restart the computer. After that, it is just fine until it happens again.
So, with no sound, everything is fine in the Device Manager, and even the control panel says my audio device IS enabled and IS working. It doesn NOT say "No Audio Device".
hmm thats odd. are you using the onboard audio card or a pci card?
Does it only happen when youre on break.com?
If you havent tried updating drivers, you can start there. Even uninstalling and then reinstalling can help if a driver is slightly corrupt. Just go to the website of your computer manufacturer and you can download the drivers there. If you custom built your pc, get the audio card name, or motherboard if its an onboard card and you can download it from their site
Yea, I have integrated audio. I don't know how the hell Dell built this computer. I was having trouble with the power supply on my older Pentium 4 1.6GHz, and then I had even more problems, so as a sign of good faith they just out of the blue shipped me this brand new Dual Core Pentium D. Then they demanded I send them back my old computer, or they would charge me for this free one they sent.
The setup they sent me isn't even buildable on the Dell.com site. Had only 256MB ram to run two processors...no DVD, piece of crap. And to top it off, the inside of this thing is so non-user friendly. It's all boxed up in metal boxes. I can only access the ram and such.
Anyways, thanks for the tips, I'll try updating or rolling back the drivers. And no, break.com isn't what only does it.
Do you have any idea what motherboard is in there? Also, are you running XP? I hope they wouldnt put vista on there with 256MB of RAM, but it wouldnt surprise me.
