I got a HP 4400c scanner probably 6 months ago and I'm happy with it. It cost $100...HP scanners typically are good.

i bought an artec ultima 2000 scanner over a year ago for $65 but it kinda sucks. it's one of those new, compact led scanners (about 1.5in high). i've also used hp, umax, canon and microtek scanners in the past and your best bet is to go with a hp.

Try to get a scanner with at least 1200x1200 DPI if your looking to print photos...I think HP has a 1200x1200 DPI scanner for under a 100 bucks, but im not sure what model it is..go to their website for more info
