Actually, for the regular user who just sits around and does shit.. home is just as good as pro. What I mean by sitting around and doing shit, for example -- regular computer stuff. Unless you're a big corporate business, you don't need pro.
What is the main difference between home and Pro anyway. I'm currently running XP pro - never tried home. I ran 2000 pro before this, I needed the NT platform inorder to use a 3D program.

You sound very angry... is that atmosphere in your sig?
Both versions have remote assistance but only pro has remote DESKTOP
Only pro can have dual processors
Automatic system recovery in pro only (beleive it or not, it works)
Pro supports dynamic disks, home doesnt
No IIS webserver on home
Pro lets you encrypt files individually
file level access control in pro, not home
Home cant logon to an active directory session
No roaming profiles in Home
No sysprep tool in Home
none of these networking features are in home edition:
the gui for IPsecurity
simple TCP/IP services
sap agent
client Service for NetWare
network monitor
multiple roaming feature
Client-side caching
Administrative Tools option on the Start menu
Home Edition has some different default settings that affect the user interface. For example, Guest logon is on by default in Home, but off in Pro. The Address bar in Explorer windows is on in Pro by default, but off in Home.

Exactly my point.. all that shit, the regular user is not gonna know what it is. They see XP, and say, "Oohh, XP, get it get it!!" And I call the person who started this thread a regular user because if he was seriously looking at the two, and knew what was up, he would've checked with microsoft.
I was mad (for other reasons).. I apologize. Yes, that's slug from the new atmosphere album.

you need to register pro, maybe not all versions but... ive been working with the version that they farm out to manufacturers like dell compaq or whoever..... xp pro build 2600... and it does need a serial.... although... a couple of times when i was installing it, it didnt ask for the serial but i could never figure out the circumstances why that would happen
it needs a serial number, but you don't need to register it online, which means that more than one person can have it on their computer. For XP home you have to register online because they don't want people using the same CD for more than one computer. I got it for free also, and didn't register it online. I could have anyways because it is a corporate copy.
