Seriously it's 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other. They'll both do what you want... which is apparently frustrate you to no end because it looks like you're getting a dell.
#2 has a better processor so it will be faster if you just look at the processing power.
But..
#2 also has less RAM in there and that will be the bottle neck of the system if you plan to do anything other than just surf the web. Vista need more than 1GB to run if you want to do anything fun.
If you don't want to upgrade anything, I would get #1 because you will not be happy with 1GB.
But I would recommon you buy #2 and upgrade to 2GB of ram since the price of ram is so cheap right now.
