Booya! Just got an "engineering sample" p4!

Well..i'm hecka stoked but I was just given a P4 2.4 GHz engineering sample! If you overclockers out there know what it is, then you'll understand how rare and highly sought after these chips are. Basically its just like a regular chip except the multiplier is unlocked (and possibly hyperthreading is unlocked too!) So yeah, I just spent a crap load of money on other computer parts to make sure I take this chip to its potential. Got an ABIT IT7 Max2 v2.0 board with a stick of corsair xms 512MB PC3200 CL2 ram. I'm aiming for 3 GHz but I'll be happy with 2.8, so aircooling is gonna fit me just fine.

that's greatness. Engineering samples 0wn all. How did you manage to get your hands on one? Are you allowed to post pics? It it's as good as most engineering samples are cracked up to be, it should be cake to get 3+ghz on that chip...seeing as most northwood 2.4a's are getting around 2.8ghz on air cooling.

good luck and keep us posted.

damn man...i remember when they first started "clock-locking" intel CPU's because people kept turning their Celeron/300's into P-II/450's...brought a tear to my eye..
