Cable = SLOW

I have a cable modem internet connection, I got some network cards and a router and installed them so the other household computer could use the same internet access, I expected it to slow me down a little bit but I used to have transfer rates on avg of 50kb/s sometimes more and now just with two computers through the router I am lucky if I get 8-10 kb/s ? What the hell is up with that did i set something up wrong?

my cable sucks too, it's been slow as hell lately. And often, it signs me off AIM and takes forever to load up internet websites. My friends have similar problems as far as signing off goes, so it might be your cable provider.

Milano97 has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Sometimes my cable is super slow, but it is only like that very rarely and only a few hours at a time...it's been pretty reliable though, haven't had any major problems.

man you all have shitty cable providers. When i lived at home we had 4 comps on one cable modem and the average download speed was still 250kb.

just unzip the file..then
To install the patch, simply double-click the sguide_tweak_2k.reg file, and the changes will be added to your Registry automatically.

It is always a good idea to backup your Registry before making changes.

If you'd like to revert the changes that this patch makes to the Registry, you can
download another patch from our website that will return the Windows 2000 Registry
to its default state.

I don't recommend the speedguide tweaks. A lot of others don't recommend it either. Best way is to d/l cablenut, d/l the add-on, and apply those settings.

Also, set your NIC to 10Mbps Half Duplex. Most cable modems link at that setting.
