Connecting mini DV camera to the computer

As the title says i want to connect my mini DV camera to my computer but the computer doesn't have mini DV slot so is there any special pci card with a mini dv slot that i can install or any DV-to-USB cable that i can get??

I searched but i didn't found anything.

ps. I allready have a TV card with an extra external 3xplug A/V & s-video slot but is old and the quality sucks.

it'll help if we know the camcorder's model number. and most camcorders now a days should have a camcorder to pc cable.

If you do indeed have a miniDV video camera it has an mini 4 pin Firewire connection.

You need a computer with a Firewire port. The larger closed U shaped one

The cable you'll need would have come with your camera. It'll look like this:
Firewire 4pin to 6pin

You cannot connect the firewire connection to a USB PC port.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

On the off chance you were talking about connecting to a USB connection from the camera then you'd use this cable
USB A to mini B

Firewire > USB

Transfers faster, .

Anyway here's a random tip:

You can use your DV cam as a webcam! Crystal clear images!!

www.webcamdv.com - I'm going to purchase that software sometime soon... There's a crack out for it but it's to make it unlimited use, but still a nagging screen appears :[. The trial lets you use it for 15 minutes and you can't use it again until you reboot. Whack!

http://www.pixela-1.com/captycable/

Most, if not all of those USB to Firewire cables do not have the converter inplace. So they are labeled as "extension cables".

I stand with my original claim http://www.experts-exchange.com/Hard..._20643243.html

You can't just get a firewire to USB cable and expect it to work correctly. (It apparently has to be a special cable)

check out the reviews before making a final decision, but the first one for $20 didn't look too bad to me.
