Desktop to Laptop using USB cable, Ok?

I need to transfer files from the laptop to desktop and vise versa. I have been using AIM in the past, but it's kind of a pain in the a$$. Can I hook the 2 pc's up using a USB cable?

Desktop - 98 Win
Laptop - XP

Thanks!

I dont think so.

How about burning stuff to CD's?

Do you have DSL/Cable? Setup a small network and transfer the files that way. Your going to need a router though.

either get a crossover cable and plug it into each computers network card or get a router and plug your computers into that with regular network cable. Then set your network up the same on the same workgroup name. Go into network places on the xp and click on "view workgroup computers" on the left side, or just type "\\" followed by the computer name and youll have access to the other computer.

Go into network neighbrohood and create a small network. Follow what it says its real simple and self explanitory. Most of it is default.

Next create a folder and put all the stuff in there you want to transfer. When your done right click the folder and hit properties > sharing. Select to share the folder and hit OK. Im not sure if you have to restart or not but go on your other computer and do the same with the network neighbrohood. Search the entire network and you should see the other PC in there. Open it and you should see the shared folder in there.

Some things might be a little off cause I dont have any of the screens open, and on Win98 its a little different. But I hope this gives you the idea.
