DSL without PHONE SERVICE???

Okay... we currently have a phone line in the house with DSL attatched. That's not a problem. The question is that since we don't ever use the phone itself, do you NEED to have a phone service in order to have DSL? I mean, we'd like to use cell phones instead of the house phone. Is there a way to keep the DSL and disconnect the phone service and just pay for DSL instead of DSL and Phone service?

I know it's confusing... I keep telling her she needs to have a phone service for the phone line because I think it's dialed into her phone number as far as billing goes and stuff. I dunno for sure though.

Most make you have a home phone line to have DSL, but in California “I think” last year there was a case where some people sued there phone co to have DSL without phone service and they won.

no. dsl is treated as an additional feature to your phone service just like caller ID , call waiting etc.

You might not be able to get SBC DSL without a phone line, but it is possible to get DSL without paying for phone service. Speakeasy can do it, but I'm not sure if they service your location.

depends how ur dsl service is setup... usually people would go with a cable provider... for what ur trying to achieve. Most likely you will need to keep ur phone line... its rare that its not needed....

You usually have to pay more for the service if you donot have a phone line attached.
