its a hp, it has a amd 9500 quad core, 3gb of ram, 640gb memory, a 8500gt graphics card, and i got it hooked up to a 22" lcd moniter.
i want to upgrade it a little more, but i dont know what to do first. i was thinking about a radeon 3870 graphics card (512 ddr4) for about 220 bucks, and getting a zalman fan and heatsink and overclock the processor a bit (but i hear the quad core's tend to overheat a little faster) and i want to get 4gb of ram.

Well the AMD quad cores are completely different than the Intel quads. Even if you have a very good overclocking motherboard you'd have a hard time getting over 2.5-2.6ghz...the Phenoms just aren't known to clock well.
That said, it's still a decent CPU....just replace that crapola 8500GT with something like an 8800GT or 3870 and the puter will play pretty much any game very well.

Well the AMD quad cores are completely different than the Intel quads. Even if you have a very good overclocking motherboard you'd have a hard time getting over 2.5-2.6ghz...the Phenoms just aren't known to clock well.
That said, it's still a decent CPU....just replace that crapola 8500GT with something like an 8800GT or 3870 and the puter will play pretty much any game very well.

another thing, my computer says Up to 1535MB Total Available Graphics Memory as allocated by Windows Vista, does this mean it will read ddr3 and ddr4 the same if they are both 512mb?
