I need a new monitor: $300 limit

I'll be buying tonight and I need some insight. It will be powered by an ATi X800 256MB video card. I'm not much of a gamer, but I'd like to get the best with my money.

well...not sure what you want to use it for - watching HD video, editing pictures, editing video, etc.

But, I'm looking forward to getting one of these: Samsung 931c

The price is less than $300

what do you get?

19" LCD with 1280 x 1024 resolution (not terribly big for a rez)

But, wait! There's more!

97% color reproduction
2000:1 contrast ratio
2 ms response time gtg (grey to grey)
Analog and DVI inputs

It's pricey for a 19" screen, but the spex are up there with the best you can find.

My $.02

Samsung is excellent. I went with Belinea because it was within my budget (140 quid shipped, about 260 usd) and im very happy!

You just found me my new monitor. I'm not much of a gamer besides a few rounds of Starcraft here and there, but I do a good amount of photochoppin. This should be more than enough for me, plus it matches my new Arctic Cooling T2 case and my Logitech Z-5500's. Much thanks once again.

If your doing anything graphic design or photochoppin as you say, I would go with a CRT. The Viewsonic A90F+ is one of the best out there and should be within your price range….

I can't find the 931c anywhere online.
I'll look into the Viewsonic A90F+, but I prefer LCD's due to the size.

Got it for free from school, I was fast to get the flat screen, weighs like 60 lbs, I will sell for $100+shipping.

Good luck playing Pong on it even

Oh wow, hadn't expected such a quick sell out. There was more media announcements on the 931BF (same spex, mostly offered in Korea). FWIW, the vendors are saying the 931C is back ordered and they will have a new shipment on 10.9.2006 (which is only a few days away).

I'll most likely order then. Which vendors were these?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001226 - $349 - 20inch regular 4:3 screen aspect , bit faster , bit better pixel pitch (crisper) , the latest and greatest from samsung for this size. Best thing there is a $60 dollar mail in rebate. So its essentially $289.

Id highly reccomend that one.

The other.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001083 - $379 - 22 inch , little bit less crisp than the one above , widescreen.

Out of these you cant go wrong for your price range.
