Actually the best 2.1 sound card for the money is the Chaintech AV-710. 24-bit and 192KHz sampling rate. If you do a little bit of research on that card they will talk about the Envy 24 that a lot of high end sound card use as the processor. That card is an 8 channel sound card but when you change it to 2 channel, it sounds like a $200 sound card but it only cost $25 or so.
This card is really good for musics and mixing, but isn't that great for gaming. It is better then the onboard, but can't match any of the "gaming" sound card from creative labs, mainly because it does not have all of that gaming codec to enhance the sound.
The only place that I know that sells them is zzf.com, that is why I bought it.
