99 Accord getting codes P1164, and P1298
So I got the CEL last night in my 99 4 cylinder automatic. Hit Advance and had them diagnose it and I got the following information:
P1164 - Circuit Fault-Bank 1, Sensor 1
P1298 - Electrical Load Detector Circuit - High Voltage
I called Honda and they said the oxygen sensor needs replaced (which I figured from the first code) and then said the P1298 code meant the alternator needs replaced. 72K on the car so that seemed a little odd to me. I ran back to Advance and had the voltage tested. Battery tested good but needed charged. Starter test said cranking was normal, and the charging system test said normal.
I ran back home and threw the battery on the charger. Started her up and the lights didn't come on. Took it around the block and it chugged at the first light. Right when I hit a complete stop and the motor went to idle it chugged. The next light it stalled. I pulled into Target and tried to see if it would happen again and noticed it happened anytime I shifted from D to N to R and vice versa. Just seemed like the motor bogged and bordered on stalling. From there on it was good and when I hit a complete stop the idle was consistent and didn't fluctuate. I was not using the A/C, headlights, or radio at the time. I'm waiting for it to sit for a while and then I plan to run back out and see if she acts up again when cold.
First question; I assume "Bank 1, Sensor 1" means the O2 sensor in front of the cat?
Second question; given the alternator checked out what would be the cause of the 1298 code?
The CEL did not come back on, and I'd love life if it stayed off but life has been kicking me square in the junk lately and I expect to see it again.
