Aftermarket Throttle Body Question(Fast Idle Air Controller)

I bought a Edelbrock 65mm Performer X throttle body for my B18C1. It comes with a little plate on the bottom that looks like this.

On my stock throttle body there is a fast Idle Air Controller connected to the TB where the plate is on the edelbrock one.

Do I need to attach the fast idle air controller to the edelbrock TB or can you run without one? Thanks.

you dont need the fast idle control. i have a plate on mine as well. they leave the fittings there so you dont need to block off the coolant lines.

you can now use those coolant lines to get coolant to your turbocharger.

if you often drive in a cold climate you might want that fast idle valve. it helps the engine warm up. if not leave it off but you will need a different TB gasket to avoid an annoying vacuum leak.

FIAV's really are only needed for cold climates. If you wanted you could remount it somewhere and hook up whats needed, I think its a coolant line and a sensor, but its really not worth the trouble.

Thanks for the replies everyone. If I'm not mistaken it looks like the stock TB gasket will seal fine.

your kit is coming along smoothly. ill try to snap some pics and get it up here if you want. i think morgan finished the manifold today, and i believe almost everything else is already done.

what size coupler do you need for the throttle body, we normally include a 2.5->2.75" reducer for the stock throttle body, does your edelbrock need a 2.5"->3"

I just compared the two throttle bodies where the intake would normally attach. They are almost identical. The edelbrock one looks like 1-2 cm bigger. It's a 65mm bore. I put the old intake on both of them. It fit on the stock TB no problem. I got it on the edelbrock one but it was more of a fight. I hope that helps.

And Mike about that cooling line that runs to the TB. Does it have any purpose other then the FIAC? Does it help with cooling the TB at all?
