Buying Adjustable Cam Gears

I'm trying to choose the brand right now. Is there much difference between the brand? As of now I'm trying to decide between:

AEM
BDL
Crower
Megan Racing

Why are the unorthodox gears so much? Is it just for looks?

Has anyone heard anything bad or had bad experiences with any of the cam gears posted above? Is this just an apples vs. oranges thing, or can i expect a higher quality out of one brand over another. Thanks.

My AEM cam gears have been great. Get the newer ones (older ones only had 3 bolts).
