ECU Checklight On ITR Swap

Ok...my engine swap is really pissing me off now

Ive got a ITR motor in a del sol , which used to have a b16a (SIR 2 motor).

My installer has used my existing wiring harness (from my b16a) while using the plugs & harness from the ITR (motor side). On the ecu side im still using my b16a ECU (OBD1).

It was ok for a couple of days but when i go over 7500 rpm for ecxtended periods (6secconds+) i get the engine check light comming on...and the car goes in limp mode. It ONLY happens in vtec ie above 5800.......about 70% of the time...

Im running a vafc...but im enriching it at some points +18 and its still running 14.1 (lean) once Vtec engages...i cant seem to fix that lean spike and im wondering if its my vafc which is causing the ECU to trip?...i dunnno.

I know i should run the proper ECU...but the wiring is a complicated since none of the honda dealers are willing to provide me with the schematics for the ITR (DC2, 96 model). Where can i get these off the net?

Has anyone done a ITR conversion on a B16a (OBD1) and used their existing wiring harness ??..if so were there any complications trying to rewire these into an OBD2 ITR ECU??? (apart from time) AND are there any additional sensors on the ITR motor which wouldnt be 'taken into account' when using the b16a wiring harness into a b16a ECU?

Sorry for the long post but its really bothering me especially since the engine checklight gets tripped sporadically.

cheers

PS: this is a double posting..srry bout that but would like feed back from all thnks

Wow done the same thing except with B16B from civic type R and have the oppisite problem... car is WAY to rich!!!!!

So you are using everything from your original engine ie the loom the distributor etc etc. but you have a vafc?

yep thats right using my previous loom on the ITR motor....it WAS NOT what i wanted but my installer did it b/c he felt that rewiring the dash was way too complicated.

I have a vafc...which i think is the problem b/c the tuner has enriched it +18 in some points and i think thats way too high to enrich (especially via a vafc).

Third im using the b16a ECU....again my installers idea.

Theres nothing wrong with using the original loom and computer like I have but mine has the oppisite problem its so rich that it floods itself at idle.....

there is only 3 things that are different to my original B16A now

1 the map sensor
2 the water temp sensor
3 the cams................

Im thinkning that maybe the overlap on the cams is too much and the map sensor is seeing no vacum at idle?

mine is lean cause im using the b16a ecu...base maps are similar to ITR but i thinks running maps are lean...especially when vtec engages.

why wouldn't you have just gotten an OBD2 -> OBD1 converter...they are plug and play and it would allow you to use the ITR ECU...???

dude....u need to read my original post better

im using my existing wiring loom so what i need (if i were to go adapter way) would be an OBD1 --> OBD2 adapter....i got a price for a custom one of these so i hope it will fix the problem of my check light comming on.
