failed ciompression test
i have a 99 b18c1 and i did a compression test. i took out all the spark plugs but did not take out the fuel pump fuse. i went from cylinder 4 to 1. it read as follows 190,185,120,185. cylinder two had a low compression. i did the oil test and it did not go up. we came to the conclusion that it was the valves. is this conclusion correct or is there other factors that could change the outcome? and were can i go from there now if it is?
Mods: 1997 USDM B18C5 Block (TypeR)(Stock) - 1995 JDM B18C Head(Crower full Race valvetrain, *Dual race springs/Ti-Retainers*)(Crane LMA's and Rocker arms)(Ferrea's SS High compression intake/exhaust valves)(Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams on Buddy Club cam gears) PerFormer X Manifold w/ hondata gasket,70mm POWER TB Hypertech Grounding system, Major Bolt ons
Depends..more then likely if a spoon of oil did not help at all, a valve is slightly bent..not enough to make the car not run but enough to make test bad..

if it is a valve is it something that i need to fix right of way? and around how much does a head job cost? also how much to port and polish, might as well if head is already off?
thx
ask your local speedshop/machine shop. could be worn valve seats/valve faces as well as a bent valve. been driving hard have we?
you dont have to take out the fuel pump fuse, but it is wise to remove the ECU fues under the hood, which disables fuel and spark. fuel in the combustion chambers while performing a compression test will throw your numbers off, since liquids do not compress. then when you finally decide to actually crank the car back up, all that fuel leftover in the cylinder will ignite at once, or detonate. that will likely cause even more damage, or blow your exhaust off the car.
