H22A crankshaft...

ok, so i've been looking for the past hour or so... i've checked all the bottom end suggestions listed in the sticky, i've searched the prelude, accord and engine tech forum both here and at **********.com. *sigh* does anyone know of a place that i can get a good crankshaft for an h22a. like i said, i've looked and nothing prevails... if you know of a place that sells them, or have one yourself, please let me know. i checked crower, eagle and darton... with no luck. i'm just doing my research so it's nothing urgent, but a speedy answer would be appreciated. thanks all

So... i'm rebuilding the 91 EX now... good times. :w00t
I've got the engine out and i'm just waiting to save up enough for an H22... cause i really don't feel like going F22B... lots of other stuff coming... soon...

I may have a Manual gauge cluster from a 4th Gen accord for sale in the very near future... PM me if you're interested

yes i did... lol, i know it's very slow but my car is pretty much stock, except for that intake...and automatic. the run was for a before and after rating, seeing how i'll be swapping an h22 in this summer. it was solely for research purposes so i don't really care.. i also caught a .454 at the tree...

oh, and strokerkits.com finally emailed me back... they don't make an h22a crankshaft... oh well, looks like it's stock crank for me and everyone else i suppose... lol

How much power are you planing on making? What would facilitate requiring a new crankshaft? Are you buying a new engine that has a damaged one or what? According to Rage the H series crank is pretty stout.

i read somewhere that the knife edged cranks made more power... not too sure about the authenticity of those tho. but a larger, stronger crank should make the car handle boost better... also increase torque too i believe... correct me if i'm wrong...

a Crank does not make power. You can free up some horsepower however by doing certain modifications. The theory behind knife edging the crank is to get the oil to slide off the crank quicker, also to lighten it slightly thus allowing it to be spun a little quicker. Increasing rev's. A larger, stronger crank.. people are making around 6 to 700hp on stock cranks so what do you plan on doing that would necesitate needing a new crank. The main processes applied to the crank from the buildup im refering too, is it was micropolished, rebalanced, and had the oil holes chamfered. Overall knifeedging can reduce the drag of the crank therby allowing more power to reach the wheels, but its all on you. Something to keep in mind is the only things that deal with power production on a engine are air, fuel, and spark. Doing work to anything else is just in support of that. Something else about knife edging is that your crank does not rest in the oil pan, therefor your not going to see a big gain because its not really slicing through anything. Unlike the old style v8's. If your doing a full build and want to take advantage of every possible angle you can think of it would be good to add on, otherwise if your just building a street car than I would pay more attention to other parts of the engine. What are trying to build here?

ok, so having said that... i don't really know why'd i'd need a different crank right now... i'm planning on making an auto-x and PCCA race car but that a while down the road... well, thanks for the input and the good info!

if you're gonna get into auto-x start off with what you have right now....then as time progresses and you start doing better in your class, start doing your upgrades. having a bunch of mods as a novice will only put you in a super hard class to compete in and won't really give you much room to grow....of course, you don't have to compete and can just participate in the practice runs

anyways, just like sorrow said, i'm not familiar w/ anyone who makes an aftermarket crankshaft....but i do know a handfull of people who have had them knife-edged. it really helps w/ engine response since you're decreasing the total rotating mass (think of the benefits of lightening your flywheel).

gotcha, so knife edging just frees up a little space and a little weight... Oh, and i know of a place in my area that does knife edging... J E Import Performance in Baltimore. They had a CRX in Honda Tuning one time. It had an auto-x built GSR. fun fun.

so what do you mean about the auto-x and PCCA... it's something i'm completely newb to except that it's like road course racing and i don't wanna just go straight cause that'll get boring. Are you saying to enter my accord as-is and run like that in the novice class and stay there until i get exp. and more upgrades? i figured i'd do that anyways... i'm confused...
