Overheating?

Alright I'll start from the begining, I was driving and when I was almost home within 2 miles I noticed that I was running really hot and by the time I was home it was really close to overheating, if not, overheating...it was bubbling in the overflow tank. So i waited till the next morning, added some coolant, took it for a test drive and it came close to overheating again and overflow tank was bubbling, checked the coolant next morning and it looked low but I couldnt find any leaks. Tommorrow I'm going to flush the coolant lines and change the oil because it needs to be changed...if anyone has any ideas what could be wrong, help me out because I threw a rod in my backup car today and I'm out of vehicals that are decent on the gas. By the way the CRX has a D16Z6 with Greddy Turbo Kit 7 PSI and 40 PSI Fuel Pressure...also started running lean on narrowband Fuel/Air Gauge.

Thanks,
Nathan

id start by finding whats making you run lean. when you run lean, it creates very excessive heat in the combustion chambers, which causes the pistons to expand, and rub against the walls of the cylinders. are you using a FMU? and how long have you been using it? whats is your setup? try not to get into boost if you can, until you find what the problem is.

it wouldnt hurt to bleed the cooling system either, there could be some air in it. but it really sounds like youre getting faulty fuel supply somewhere along the line. if your vaccuum line to your FMU is broken somewhere, the FMU wont increase fuel pressure and cause you to run lean under boost because it doesnt see any boost.

Yeah fix your fuel problems before driving it anymore. It's safer to run too rich than too lean.

Also check for symptoms of a blown headgasket.

Well im running a D16Z6 with now 5 PSI Boost...I just realised this started happening when I tuned up the fuel pressure on my FPR. Since then I have tuned it back down to what it was 35 PSI i belive, and I havent had the chance to change the oil yet or flush the coolant system but Its getting done tommorrow because of the warm weather Also checked the oil and it was low so I dont know if that could be a cause. I also dont think that the headgasket is blown, I've blown one in my toyota before and I dont see any of the same symptoms like smoke (white).

Thanks,
Nathan

If you are running lean then why are you turning down the fuel pressure?

OMG....all you have for fuel management is adjustable fuel pressure regulator? stop boostimg immediately before you blow your engine. your car is running like 100% trash. if all you did was increase fuel pressure, youre running pig rich off boost and who knows what the fuck on boost.

Yeah thats how the car was purchased...but I took your advice before I was able to read this and I have already tuned the boost all the way down/off, its running completly stock now...I will be getting a P28 with Crome and also 440 Injectors soon so I can boost more. So the CRX is playing it safe for awhile.

Thanks for all the help,
Nathan

Nah its OBD1 but they put a P75 in there for some reason...i think i might just convert it to P28 and do a VTEC conversion to save some money
