Is it possible?
Im getting kind of nervous revving to 9000rpm on stock rod bolts. I was wondering if it were possible to put the car in the air, drain the oil, pull off the oil pan and that plate above it, and use an extension to reach past the crank and replace the rod bolts with ARP bolts? Id take one out, put the ARP in, torque it, and then do the other. Is this possible, or do i have to break down the whole motor? If I do, Ill probably just leave it. Thanks!

Our rods have studs..that means u'd have to remove the studs and put in the new ones..
why you worrying...our blocks are almost the same..bolt/stud wise..and i'm reving to 10k+ sometimes.. going on 4 years..u have nothing to worry about..i suggest if ur goin to change out your studs/bolts and shit..get new rods while ur at it..
its a bigger hassle then what it would be to just drop the block believe it or not...i'm somewhat a big dude..more lankey so..i'm 6'1 at 169..and my hands are able to fit in very small places and I can't even get my hand in the site to get a good grip..

Alright. Im more worried my rings didnt seat. I only made 200psi on a compression test. If my rings didnt seat, i dont know what im gonna do. I cant just pull it apart, and throw new rings in, and put it back together. If have to have it honed again, replace bearings, blah blah blah. Id probably just give up and part it out.

Do not give up..thats one thing u gotta learn..they got shops that will change the rings and hone ur block for little to nothing and put everything back together.. seriously...200psi seems "ok" but are u burning any oil..anything?? i'm getting 260psi in all four maybe ur head is warped or something i wouldn't worry about it the power u put down seems right anyway..

The head was milled and the block was decked. Not burning any oil. It just seems like for everything thats been done, i should be closer to 200whp, and have higher compression numbers. My tuner said the only way to tell if the rings have seated is to look at the cylinders. Id rather just do a leak down, but i dont think i could handle it if they were blown. Id probably freak out and light the car on fire or something.
Maybe I just set my goals too high, and am dissapointed with what I made. But I see people all the time with less done and they make more power. Stock ITR's making the same power as me, or a stock bottom GSR with Sk2S2's and porting making more than me. I cant justify spending another grand on porting. If my rings are fine, im stopping at 200whp. Im considering a direct port n20 setup, but havent decided yet.

to properly install rod bolts you need to press out the old studs. have the new bolts installed. then have the rods resized due to distortion caused by the installation.

point blank..what'd i'd tell u.. ur making more then that dyno told u, it reads 17% lower..
2ndly..your goin to make as much as u are with that head..if u dont use oversized valves, and port that head u wont see anymore gains..either that or come down here and let a real turner, play with it..
Secondly.. Do a leakdown its better to know now then anything if ur seriously considering porting i got a buddy of mine on HT, he'll do you right for 500, all u gotta do is ship it to him..he'll make ur world spin..

you can see some really nice gains with a good port job. hell even a good valve job can do wonders for the flow.

on second thought tho..
your CR test numbers..are u just like cranking the car over 10 times?? and stopping?? because the way i do the numbers is..i crank the car over until the needle doesn't move anymore.. which is the way your suppose to do it..

I crank it over until it stops going up with the throttle wide open. It usually stops going up after 8-10 cranks.
I wish i could afford to get my head ported, but I really dont. Plus ive never taken a head off before. Im sure I could, but its the timing that worries me.

Before I start ripping into the motor again, im gonna get the Rage header on and hopefully try to find a 2.5" exhaust. If that doesnt get me to 200whp, ill start on the head. Its already got a brand new 3 angle valve job, so thats all set.
I wonder If i could port it myself? I posted a dirtbike cylinder before and picked up a good amount of power.
Any suggestions on an affordable 2.5" exhaust thats a true 2.5" ID?

www.kteller.com and www.sms-products.com have true 2.5" systems with numerous muffler choices
i would not suggest porting a honda head yourself if you've never done it before. you cant just hog the ports out and expect good results. it's a fine art best left to the pro's.

Yep its all about taking the right amount off without taking too much off, and roughing it up to create the perfect exhaust flow. I did a bit of research on it about two years ago, and was very please with how the dirtbike came out, but i know its a tough art.
