How do you go about removing these two systems? Regarding the power steering unit, I read in a thread on the suspension section, that a guy with a DC removed his power steering & installed a manual steering rack. I thought you just needed to remove the power steering pump (and any other parts) & you can leave the existing steering rack alone? Is this correct? Are there any holes which will need to be covered up when you remove the P/S & if so, does Honda sell these plugs?
When you remove A/C, you need to remove that pipe which goes through the firewall. Does Honda sell a rubber plug, or any sort of plug, to cover up the holes which are left when you remove the air conditioning system?
Mods: Caddy is for sale, Rx7 is for sale to make way for the DA

well my friend just cut his belts, but are you looking for wieght loss or just parasitic drag removal?
If all your looking to do is gain power by not having those belts running on the harmonic balancer than just take off the belts, no need to worry bout all the hassle of removing the whole systems.

haha yea...as long as you dont run your car for more than an hour or two with the belt off and your battery is charged then you'd be allright, but I wouldnt recommend it.
I swapped in an H22 in my EG which had PS. With the H22 I did not retain PS but I did retain the PS Rack and it is fine. Some say just let the oil run out of the rack naturally and don't worry about plugging the rack but that makes me nervous.
What I did was just left the metal hard lines for the PS threaded into the rack and cut them with a hack saw about an inch or two above the fittings... then I just capped off the exposed metal piping with rubber vacuum line caps from autozone. I removed the pump and the rest of the rubber PS lines and resevoir and called it a day.
I did keep A/C though. If you want to get rid of A/C just get rid of it. I wouldn't worry about capping off any of the exposed fittings after the lines are removed unless you plan to reinstall the A/C at a later date... in that case if you plan to reinstall A/C then you'll want to cap stuff off so it does not get contamintated. When I stripped my engine bay to paint it before putting the motor in, I just balled up duct tape and used that to plug my A/C fittings etc.
