Removing Speed Sensor and Cable from D16Z6

Hey, my speedometer cable broke about 3 months ago and I haven't bothered to fix it till I got pulled over the other day, apperently doing 65 Mph in a 45 Mph. Could any one give me some insturction on replacing a speedometer cable on a D16Z6 and is it nessecary to remove the speed sensor, if so, could I also get some insturction on that too. Any help will be good, so if you could just write some insturction or point me to a URL that would be great.

Thanks,
FU510N

not thaT hard, youll need a jack+stands, but a lift or a pit would save you time. a speedomter cable for a z6=$18, thats what it cost me at advance. but anyways, remove the gauge cluster cover and unplug it from behind your gauges. then go underneath and look on your trans, there will be a wire plugged into it, coming out of your firewall, held in by a small clip. dont lose the clip, but unplug it and pull it out of the trans. DONT pull the cable out of the firewall yet. its ok if you do, but you just wasted like 20 minutes, because if you tie the new cord onto the end of the old one up near the gauge cluster, and then pull the old one through, it will fish the new one through the firewall for you and save you the trouble. install=reverse steps of disassembly.

good luck, i hope this helps. oh and when you pull the old one out, pull the whole spring out of the sheath and inspect for breaks or bends. this would be the reason it stopped working.
