Smoke after running strait pipe???
Hey Everyone,
I'm looking in to buying a 1995 Del Sol Si with a B16A motor and 2000 Civic Si Tranny. Here is a quote on what was done to the vehicle:
"It has a B16A Motor which had new piston rings put in. . .The only bad thing is that the car smokes a little. Shops told me to replace the Head Gasket. There is NO water in oil, and there is NO oil in the water. Head was milled and resurfaced when piston rings were changed."
So I started thinking, wouldn't the head gasket be replaced when the piston rings were put in, and the head redone? So he emailed me today and said that it only will smoke when V-TEC engages and you let off the gas, he also mentioned that the smoke could be from running a strait pipe, as it never smoked before he had the catalytic converter removed.
Could you guys just give me an opinion on what you think is going on here? Could it actually be because it no long has a catalytic converter? Let me know what you think. He says the engine has about 17,000 miles on it.
Thanks guys,
