Timing question (94 accord f23a1)
I recently bought a 1994 honda accord with an f23a1 engine swap. The car was involved in a minor accident in which the rad. was damaged but the guy decided to drive it home anyway with the motor overheating. Long story short he warped the head to .012" so I junked that head after getting a new one from the salvage yard. After changing the heads over I realized that I had not set the engine to TDC which I figure is no big deal I'll just take the timing belt off the cam pulley, take out the no.1 spark plug and use a straw and the crank pulley to turn the engine to TDC, replace the spark plug and the timing belt and the engine will be in time. Then my friend who was helping me said that it wouldn't work because my balance shafts would be out of time and I also need to change the cam timing to match the new block. Which I thought I did when I turned the cam pulley untill the rotor button pointed at the number 1 wire. I thought I had this project all figured out until my friend doubted me and now I want a second opinion before I end up bending my valves. Any advice would be helpful and thanks in advance.
