did you do an engine swap because there is no reason for a CEL for something you don't have are you sure you read it right.

What wire harness are you using? And how did you wire up the V-TEC

i have an obd1 jdm b16a (the 170hp version). it came with a p30 ecu. i used my DX harness with obd converter and ran a wire from the vtec solenoid to my ecu. i was told that some jdm b16s were made without the vtec pressure switch. there is no sign of one ever being there.

i don't know if the b16 has one or not but if it doesnt (you know if he swapped a B16) and he is using an ECU off an engine that did have it that could be causing a problem

what do you mean by "pin out 15 on connector C)"? the vtec solenoid is pin A4 and vtec pressure switch is pin D6? and my ecu is jdm obd1 p30. it dont have a connector C

Trace the wire from your original harness not the ECU

My harness is a DX too, When you plug your jumper wire into the ecu use the wire's coming directly out of the ecu end to trace from there you will need a OBD1 wire diagram
not an OBD2 diagram
