Why do you assume it's built up with sludge?

my d16 has 123,000 miles on it and I still get 32mpg.

i dunno...I'd still count on that engine providing pretty good gas mileage.

Just do a proper tune up when you swap and regular maintenance and the d15's will give great mpg til the day thtey die

i have d15b7 with 113k and still get about 415-20 mpg on a full tank with mixed city and freeway

I dont think that site is very accurate i looked up my car and it said 35mpg highway. I did a highway trip and when i got back i calc. my mpg and got 39mpg . That was also with a bad o2 sensor ( d16z6)

i got 30mpg mixed driving in my crx even when supercharged, atleast when i was mostly off the gas.

my ford gets about 30 now, i do mixed driving, more on the highway side though. and its slow as a turtle.
