Okay so I have a question. I have a JDM B16A2 Auto swap and mileage runs around 20mpg. RPM's in OD are around 1-2 meaning 2500 rpm is about 48 MPH. This seems really high to me...When first did the swap, the mileage was around 29. Thoughts (besides dump the automatic...didnt have the money for the trannyswapover too at the time.)

thanks

btw, I did the swap(D15B8) and the best MPG I got was 36, average 33-34

so... yeah, ratings didnt mean shit! =\

Ok, well I have a 94 Ej1, not del sol, but it was an EX had a boosted z6 in it, guy sold it but removed the d16 and put in a d15b8, mixed with quite a bit of WOT and relaxed highway was 33mpg.. all interstate, 44-46mpg! Fackin sweet. So depending on when he expects to get that kind of mileage in town/hwy/interstate its quite possible, and 73mph on the interstate for me is just over 3k rpm, its throttle input, not RPMS that'll kill mileage..

del sol's aren't light. they weigh more than my 240sx. power to weight ratio has alot to do with mpg not just displacement. a tiny motor in a big ass car will technically get the same if not worse gas mileage as a big motor in a smaller car. it all depends on how much work the motor has to do as well. f-body's with v8's can pull 30 mpg+ highway because of the low-end power they have and gearing. don't think you'll get 42 mpg because you have a 1.5 in there.

true to a point the larger the engine the more fuel it consumes at idle if you have a W16 and you put it in a 2000 lb car you won't get good gas mileage.

there is always a limit. hence why balance is the key. something like an ls7 into an fd3s would be real sexy. 505 hp and 30+ hwy mpg. hehe. i love pushrods. less moving parts to achieve more hp is always nice

yeah with the 13b-rew they weigh in at around 2800 lbs. so with an lsx motor which is around the weight if not lighter than the 13b-rew, you would have a crazy car.
