2 you should look at it logically. you just proved my point about rpms. they mean a great deal. you just said they add fuel according to the amount of air going into the motor. higher rpms mean more air going into the motor. we call this a contradiction of what you were previously trying to state about rpms meaning nothing. what you said was completely wrong. rpms/load/displacement are what determine mpg. the higher the rpms the higher the air flow the more fuel needed. longer gears are their to keep the "RPMS" down so you get better gas mileage.

3. the s2k and f-body were brought up as an example of rpms and diplacement. i'm sure he can pull 45mpg....with tuning. but don't expect to swap that motor and pull 45 mpg at 75 mph. there was a big stretch of the truth in alot of your statements.
No no no and no.. I stated that he could expect that mileage from that motor in that car. I said over 100 pounds difference. You also said that it is farfetched I am achieving the kind of mileage I am.. but alas, its true. Say what you want, I'm right and you're a troll. Nice 240 btw, too bad you drive it.

personal insults are always an indicator of maturity

1. you said rpms don't afftect gas mileage yet you stat that the computer adjusts fuel for the amount of air in the motor? you need throttle to sustain rpms. rpms means more air throught the motor. we aren't discussing neutral costs because that's vacuum.

2. i said you are claiming 46 mpg cruisin at 75 mph in a heavier car. that's what i said was bullshit. you aren't getting 46 mpg cruising at 75 mph. i said at 55-60 mph maybe. you put that motor in a heavier car and are claiming the highway numbers that motor makes in a car that is much lighter.

3. i said he could net 46 mpg witht that motor and some tuning.

4. for resorting to name calling. please grow up

no I4 i know of can sustain 45 MPG at between 4 and 6k RPMs (where he would be at going 75) unless you have a special magic gear in your tranny

exactly. the i-vtec's don't even do that. then he's claiming that rpms don't matter, so i guess longer gears are there for shits and giggles. rpms/load and displacement of the motor are what determine gas mileage. since rpms don't matter i guess it's ok to cruise the highway at 200 rpms below redline. the whole point is to find optimal point in your powerband to cruise at where you won't be overworking the engine. think about it. why would a z06 cruising at the same highway speed as an s2k pull in better highway mpg with a motor over 3 times the displacement and about 200-300 lbs heaver?

I will make a thread eventually. But right now we are just doing prep work. The engines will be pulled soon. The car does look good though and will be an excellent daily driver. And as for the Supra, it doesnt have any mods.

Nah actually the neg rep thing was an accident, using an unfamiliar laptop and i was readin the mods to your 240, my car doesn't run at 4k rpm when im cruising along at 75 its 3500, which is usually at the limit of normal shifting under in town driving conditions. I filled my car up after going 387 miles, that was 8.5 gallons of gas, you do the math. My mixed mileage when I'm driving like a normal person and not trying to be a hard ass with a motor that produces less than 100HP is 35-36. Longer gears weren't ever "used" for any specific purpose, except the drivability of a car. I had a crown vic, 4.6L had 2.73 gears in it, was supposed to get great mileage, got mileage for shit. heavy car, with a decent amount of torque to push it along. This is kind of like comparing a B18 tranny to a B16 tranny, the B16 tranny just has shorter gears to work with the different powerband of the smaller engine.

I can obviously tell I'm pushing your buttons because you're typing grammar isn't the best. flame me or what have you for whatever purpose you want. I really don't care, I was googling around to find some other people that might've had similar experiences with the kind of mileage i've been getting. I subscribed to this forum for shits and giggle, meaningless to me. I didn't name call btw, I was just telling the truth.

actually my typing grammar is always this bad. go look at any of my other posts by going to my sig. and the b16 tranny will yield worse gas mileage at 80 mph on a b18b vs the ls tranny at the same speed because the of load/rpms. a b16 would get better mpg on the highway using the ls tranny. we are talking highway not in town. shorter gears in town could technically get you better mpg in some instances since the engine would have to do less work. it's all about a balance and longer gears on the highway are better for optimal load/rpms (which matter for efficiency)

about those people getting the same mpg highway. ask if they're crusiing at 75 mph and getting 46mpg and then send us the link of you asking that question and their replies. and it has to be in an equally weighted chassis as yours.
